this song made me cry before i even knew what it was about. probably some heavy lifting from the show in that regard but something about the emotion in the song and the melody and the backing track was just so clearly about this fractured relationship between two people who used to be best friends. it reminds me of all the people i’ve grown apart from, albeit often times less dramatically than gojo/geto. the key repeated line at the climax happens right when we see the visual of half geto half gojo. i think its kind of meant to be the most positive way to look at it. blue still lives. the ‘blue’ of their relationship stays pure and alive, even if they aren’t friends anymore.
i was a bit confused by
the words that damn you have been lodged in my throat this whole time. “We’ll see each other again, won’t we?” A voice too broken to make a sound.
i didn’t know if this was the singer can’t even say “we’ll see each other again”, which is somehow a damning set of words, or that the singer held back and decided instead to say that.
my interpretation is that the singer can’t say the words they want to say. and even when they try to desperately ask if they’ll see each other again their voice chokes up too hard to get anything out
i also didn’t understand
The asphalt throws back the roar of cicadas and the silence that was you slips below what I can hear.
at first but its really sad.
